Education was tried to vend eight times – Socialist Students Union

The new national organizer of the Socialist Students Union, Comrade Nalinda Jayathissa said that the different governments who came in to power from J.R. Jayawardana, who introduced the open economy, to the present tried to privatize the university education eight times at a media conference held on last 31st October. He indicated that a number of problems have been arose in both university education sector and school education sector .

People protest neglecting the heavy rains

A protesting campaign, organized by the JVP  was held in front of the Colombo fort railway station yesterday (24). Protesting campaign was held to remonstrate proffering the 2012 budget without complying the promises given to people by the last budget and to force the government to increase the salaries according to the living cost.

CHE DAY 2011

CHE DAY, which is continuously organized by the Socialist Youth Union was held on last 15th October at 3.00pm at Jayawardana Centre, Colombo. It consisted of a lecture and a cultural show.

National Organizer of the Socialist Youth Union, Comrade Bimal Rathnayake delivered the welcome speech. Cuban ambassador, Ms. Nursia Castro Guevara participated as the chief guest for this occasion. 62nd Anniversary of the national day of Peoples’ Republic of China is commemorated

62nd Anniversary of the national day of Peoples’ Republic of China was commemorated at BMICH yesterday (28th September). It had been organized by the Sri Lanka – China Friendship Foundation . The political consular of China embassy comrade Hun Ta Wo, representing the Communist Party of China (CPC) and comrade Somawansa Amarasinghe , the leader of the Peoples’ Liberation Front (JVP) participated in that event.

Socialist youth Union (SYU) assists the students of northern province

SYU organizing  numerous events to commemorate the brotherhood day and distributed books among the students of the northern province on last 2nd August. Employees are in struggle for the arrears salaries of 10 months

There was a protesting campaign in front of the head office of the electricity board asking for the arrears salaries of 10 months on last 29th Friday.
