Struggle on behalf of downtrodden masses – Bimal invites youth

A campaign to collect signatures in support of Palestine organized by the Socialist Youth Union (SYU) was held near Davatagaha Mosque in Colombo yesterday (2nd) to mark the ‘Palestine Solidarity Day’ which falls on the 29th November.

Former JVP MP and National Organizer of the SYU Bimal Ratnayake participating in the campaign said Socialist Youth Union has been engaging in acts supporting Palestine Solidarity Day for several years. He said Palestine Nation has been left with only 11% of its lands due to imperialists’ moves and added that SYU would extend its total support for the struggle Palestine masses are carrying out to win an independent state. He said SYU will engage in various activities for a week till 9th December to make Sri Lankan masses aware regarding the struggle of Palestine people.

Speaking further Mr. Ratnayake said the Palestine Students Movement and the SYU would jointly carry out events at 100 venues to express solidarity to the Palestine people’s struggle and through such activities SYU invites youths of this country to join the struggle to win their rights and struggle on behalf of downtrodden people.

The National Organizer of the Socialist Students Union (SSU) Nalinda Jayatissa and Colombo District Parliamentarian Sunil Handunneththi too were present.
